Still in production, they’re unassuming, mid-sized standmounters that, despite their advanced years, remain competitive with the class leaders. It's a great album, one of my favourites, full of darkness and melancholy with a ragged and drunken feel to the playing, and the ProAcs really exposed that rawness, almost ruthless in portraying the grief Young must have been feeling at the time (he'd lost two friends to drug overdoses) with searing guitars and wailing vocals. With the D Two your music will never know a dull moment. It’s lively and energetic yet non-fatiguing over extended listening. To my mind, the original Response Two was a bit darker in character with a shaded, less dynamic treble. It also gave up a good half-octave of usable midbass in comparison with the D Two. Tone Audio Magazine Response D48R review. The D2R dependably created a large soundstage, even in my smallish room, with great image specificity. It delivers more details and has an overall clean, crisp, and modern sound. However, Fritz has done a great job in making sure that it doesn’t get into the hyper-detailed territory like some Focal or KEF speakers tend to do. The treble is airy, sweet and extended but never bright or harsh. Nov 07, 2019 · They were very impressed with many of the factors that make ProAc speakers some of the best you can buy: excellent build quality, easily matched to a wide variety of amplifiers, transparent and expressive audio quality, and excellent stereo imaging. Of course, the biggest difference from the original Response D2 is the ribbon tweeter. Oct 04, 2021 · The D2R are as happy playing something intimate such as Tracey Chapman’s Fast Car as they are Nirvana in full flow. They have plenty of attack at the frequency extremes but still enough in the way of subtlety to avoid sounding overly aggressive. Verdict Despite their obvious transparency, these ProAcs never strike us as analytical tools. Congratulations to Sir Stewart Tyler for 40 years of great work in his products! The midrange and highs were equally impressive. If this sound quality is any indication, Rotel is well on its way to regaining the glory that it enjoyed as a premium brand in an age gone by. This whole system costs $55,000 ($35,000 without the turntable). Tone Audio Magazine Response D48R review.
